- Ticket Start Times
We use “timed-entry” to prevent long lines at check-in so your visit starts off as smooth as a freshly sheared alpaca’s fleece.
Also good to know: we can’t let anyone in until everyone in your ticket order has arrived—yes, even your “fashionably late” cousin. To keep things stress-free (and avoid alpaca-sized impatience), we recommend each family get their own tickets. That way, no one’s left standing in the barn doorway wondering if the alpacas are judging them… because they totally are.
- Tickets Required
Alpaca Acres is a real, working farm —which means we don’t just hang out eating grass all day (well… mostly). That means you’ll need to snag a ticket before you show up to ensure a spot!
Two ways to schedule your visit:
-
Buy a ticket online – fastest and easiest, plus it keeps the alpacas from judging your phone skills.
-
Call 570‑851‑8913 – we might be in the field hanging with the alpacas or helping other guests, so if we don’t pick up right away, leave a message and number. We’ll call back… eventually (but probably before the alpacas start a conga line).
Pro tip: Online ticket sales close 1 hour before your visit, so don’t wait until the last minute—unless you enjoy running through the farm waving your arms like a human scarecrow.
-
- Ticket Ages
Does everyone need a ticket to enter?
Whether you’re a tiny tot, a full-grown human, or a giddy grandma perfecting your alpaca paparazzi skills, everyone 24 months or older needs a ticket.
Even if you’re just here for moral support (or to cheer on someone else’s alpaca cuddle), a ticket gets you full access to fun, smiles, and the occasional “Why is that human running?” stares from the alpacas.
- Promotions
How do I use my promo code?
Using your promo code is easier than getting an alpaca to strike a pose:
-
Visit our website and pick the ticket you want.
-
Click the BLUE line that says “promotional code” and type in your code.
Heads-up: Once you’ve paid, we can’t give refunds on discounts—so double-check before you click that button. Need a hand? Just give us a shout; we love helping humans save money almost as much as alpacas love snacks.
-
- Attractions
What attractions will be available for my visit?
We pack plenty of family-friendly fun into every visit, from the Mountain Slide to Train Rides—but just like our alpacas, some attractions have their own schedules.
Some rides and activities might be getting a tune-up or taking a seasonal snooze. The Alpaca Express runs at specific times and some adventures are Saturday-only, so you might want to call ahead if you have questions—so if you have questions, give us a call and ask for Paca Mama.
Think of it as part of the charm—keeps the alpacas feeling special and the humans on their toes!
Summer Fun & Fall Fest tickets are not guided or private alpaca visits. If you’re looking for one-on-one alpaca time, check out our VIP experience instead!
- Alpaca Visits
Before you meet our fluffy stars, here’s the lowdown to keep everyone safe and smiling:
-
Parents/Guardians: Make sure your kiddos know the rules—alpacas are adorable, not lawless.
-
Alpaca moods vary: Just like humans, sometimes they’re chatty, sometimes they’re “leave me alone” vibes. As with all animals, alpaca interactions and viewing opportunities may vary depending on their comfort and behavior.
-
Treats: Coin-operated feeders are available—please don’t sneak in your own snacks. Our herd has a strict “no outside food” policy.
-
Getting there: Expect a short walk down a grassy hill—it’s part of the farm adventure.
-
Fenceline only: Standard visits happen outside the alpaca field. No climbing fences, opening gates, or doing secret alpaca ninja moves.
-
Gentle touches: Move slowly, talk softly, and pet with care.
-
Wash up: Hand washing is a must afterward—even if you’re tempted to skip it because you think “sanitizer is close enough.”
-
Protect your stuff: Keep pacifiers, sippy cups, and baby bottles out of the alpaca zone.
-
Health first: High-risk individuals, young children, pregnant folks, and those with compromised immune systems should be extra careful.
-
Scent-sensitive: Alpacas are sensitive to strong smells (lotions, soaps, sprays), so keep it subtle—they’re sniff detectives.
Our alpacas are full of personality (and opinions). Interactions and photo ops depend on their mood, so while we do our best, nothing is guaranteed—they’re the real bosses around here!
-
- Exploring the farm
Can we explore the farm?
We love sharing our family farm with visitors, but first things first—all guests must check in at the farm store upon arrival before heading off to explore. No sneaky “we’ll just wander real quick” moves… the alpacas notice everything!
-
Alpaca visits: You can only visit the designated alpaca viewing fenceline in the attractions area.
-
Hands off: No entering other pastures, barns, or neighboring properties. Please don’t touch farm equipment, open gates, or attempt any acrobatic fence maneuvers.
Think of it as a front row pass: you get the fun, the fluff, and none of the farm hazards!
-
- Pets
As much as we love all animals (really, we do… we’re a farm), we can’t allow pets on the farm. It’s all about keeping everyone safe—your furry friends, other visitors, and our alpaca herd.
Heads-up: Maryland law also means pets can’t be left in vehicles, so even your car’s co-pilot has to stay home.
- Smoking
Is smoking allowed at the farm?
Nope! 🚭 Smoking of any kind—including vaping or marijuana—is strictly prohibited on the farm. Our alpacas prefer fresh air, and honestly… so do we.
- Food
Is there food at the farm?
Yes! The Farmyard Food Truck has food and drinks available for purchase most days—so please leave the picnics, outside food, and alcohol at home. Our alpacas are picky eaters and don’t do sandwiches (yet).
Want to make sure the food truck is open on a specific day? Just give us a call or shoot us an email.
Pro tip: If you have special dietary needs or just prefer your own snacks, feel free to enjoy them back at your vehicle in the parking lot. No food is allowed to be brought into the farm area.
- Restrooms
Are there restrooms on the property?
Yes… sort of! Alpaca Acres is a real working farm, so it’s a completely outdoor adventure. We’ve got an outdoor handwashing sink and a portable restroom (“port-o-potty”) for your convenience.
Heads-up: There are no indoor restrooms, so plan accordingly—nature lovers only!
- Weather
Does the farm close if it rains?
Yes—because even alpacas aren’t big fans of soggy socks! Since all of our activities are outdoors, we’ll close the farm if the weather might make things unsafe or less fun.
If we do close, the farm store will close too, and all guests will need to head home. Refunds aren’t available for rain, so plan accordingly—think of it as an excuse to practice your indoor alpaca dance moves!
- Photography Policy
What is your photography policy?
-
Smile for the cameras! Entering the farm gives management permission to photograph or record guests for lawful use—no permission slips or alpaca-approved contracts needed.
-
Guests, take all the pics you want! Snap away, share your farm fun, and don’t forget to tag us: #AlpacaAcresMaryland #SmilesMemoriesTraditions.
-
No drones allowed. Alpacas get stressed and may plot aerial takeovers.
-
Professional photographers need to schedule sessions in advance—so the alpacas know who’s behind the lens.
-
VIP Encounters: Feel free to take all the photos your heart desires—but no recording during the VIP Encounters. Even alpacas like their privacy!
-
- Payment Types
What forms of payment are accepted?
We happily accept cash and debit/credit cards with a chip—no swipe-only cards or gift cards, sorry!
Heads-up: Credit card purchases may include fees, so plan accordingly. Think of it as a small price for alpaca-approved goodies!
- Clothing
What should we wear?
Alpaca Acres is a real working farm, so dress for the great outdoors!
-
Wear closed-toe shoes—you’ll be walking on dirt, gravel, grass, and some rolling hills.
-
Dress for the weather and be ready to get a little dirty (it’s part of the fun!).
-
Socks are required if you plan to bounce on the jump pad—alpacas are big fans of sock fashion.
Think comfy, weather-ready, and farm-friendly… and you’ll be set for a day full of alpaca-approved adventures!
-
- Safety
Is there anything else I should know?
-
Parents/Guardians: Keep little ones in eyesight and within arm’s reach at all times—alpacas are cute, but they don’t babysit.
-
Incidents or concerns: Let a staff member know right away. We’ll handle it, but we need an incident report before you leave the farm.
-
Follow the rules: Anyone ignoring farm policies—written or spoken—may be asked to leave without a refund. Policies can change without notice, because even farms like to keep things interesting!
-
- Accessibility
Is the farm stroller-friendly?
Getting to the alpacas involves a short walk down a grassy hill, and our attractions are in a wide-open grassy area with some flat spots and some gentle hills.
Many guests bring strollers, while others prefer snuggle pouches—whatever works best for your little adventurers! Just keep in mind that grassy hills and uneven ground are part of the farm fun.
Fall visitors: Our corn maze takes you through a corn field that can get muddy and rocky, so plan accordingly—boots and patience recommended!
