Located in the beautiful mountains of Western Maryland, in a “great small town” named Oakland, sits a small family farm with big things to offer. What began as a fiber-producing alpaca farm has quickly grown into an agri-tainment destination.
When Alpaca Acres Farm and Fiber first began offering alpaca visits and educational farm tours, folks flocked to the farm for a chance to get outside and enjoy time together. By the end of that first year, it was clear that visitors just couldn’t get enough of Alpaca Acres’ adorable alpacas, fun atmosphere and fabulous farm views and that they were eager for more family-friendly outdoor activities.
The farm’s second season opened with a full calendar of events, some fun attractions, and a partnership with Spookley the Square Pumpkin, the Official Spokes-Pumpkin for National Bullying Prevention to promote the importance of being tolerant and kind. After enjoying a visit with the alpacas, guests could stay to enjoy the farm fun or shop in the farm store which offers cozy products made from alpaca fiber, fun alpaca novelty items, rustic décor, gifts and more.
Over the next several years, the farm continued to add new attractions and seen more and more people experience the farm for the first time while many returned as an annual family tradition. Numerous visitors return each year to see their favorite alpaca or to see the cute new cria (alpaca babies) and others come for the farm’s famous apple cider donuts during the farm’s popular Fall Fest.
While remaining a real working alpaca farm, Alpaca Acres continues to provide a wide variety of farm experiences for the young and young at heart. Visitors of all ages can enjoy a day of wholesome fun at the farm… meet and greet the alpacas, race down Big Al’s mountain slide, ride the Alpaca Express, and more. Alpaca Acres also remains a popular spot for field trips, group outings, company picnics, and birthday parties for thousands of visitors each year.
The owners of Alpaca Acres have proudly accepted multiple awards for creative activity programs and outstanding customer service in the tourism industry and strive to provide a clean, safe, and fun place for guests to enjoy. With this mission in mind and a vision to expand its herd, agritourism attractions, events, and farm experiences each year, it’s only fitting that the farm’s name was changed to Alpaca Acres Farm and Fun!
